Sport, fitness and movement

Understand what your body achieves. Develop what lies within it.

Endurance · Strength · Movement quality · Recovery

You do not have to be an athlete to benefit from fitness.

Physical performance capacity shows itself not only in sport. It also determines how well we cope with long working days, travel, unfamiliar exertion and the demands of everyday life.

A professionally demanding day can be mentally challenging and at the same time very one-sided physically. Some people sit for many hours and then occasionally train particularly intensively. Others move regularly, but always repeat similar patterns. Neither has to lead directly to symptoms.

Prevention therefore does not mean training as much as possible. It begins with different questions:

How much exertion can the heart, circulation and respiration cope with?

How do strength, mobility and coordination work together?

Are there movement patterns that cost unnecessary energy?

Which training stimulus challenges the body without overtaxing it?

And how much recovery does it need afterwards?

Even those who generally feel fit can benefit from these answers. The aim is not to judge people by their performance. It is about understanding your personal starting point and developing existing possibilities in a targeted way.

Fitness is a measurable health reserve.

We found consistent indications that high cardiorespiratory fitness is strongly associated with a lower risk of a range of deaths and chronic diseases in the general and clinical population.

Comment from Dr. med. Claas Hohmann, Medical Director at Buff Medical Resort:

“We have to meet people where they are – every step in the right direction can have great effects on general health in the long term. That is why individual fitness should also be part of every treatment concept at Buff Medical Resort, whether young, old, healthy or ill.”

4 factors of physical performance capacity

01

Endurance

Endurance describes how well the body provides and uses oxygen during prolonged exertion. It influences not only athletic performance, but also resilience and recovery in everyday life.

02

Strength

Muscles provide stability, generate movement and take on important tasks in the metabolism. What matters is not as much muscle mass as possible, but strength that suits your body and your everyday life.

03

Movement quality

Mobility, stability and coordination determine how controlled and efficient a movement is. Restrictions or compensation patterns can be present long before they are perceived as pain.

04

Recovery

Training sets a stimulus. The actual adaptation then requires rest. Sleep, nutrition, stress and training management all help to determine how well the body processes exertion.

For whom is a closer analysis worthwhile?

You need neither have symptoms nor be training for a competition. An analysis can be worthwhile whenever you would like to understand your physical performance capacity better and to integrate movement into your life more purposefully.

Fitness cannot be reliably assessed by how athletic a person looks or how often they train. Objective performance diagnostics can show which reserves are already present and where training can sensibly begin.

Everyday life is demanding, but involves little movement?

Long working days, frequent travel and many hours of sitting leave little room for regular exercise. You would like to use the time available to you so that training remains effective and realistic.

Would you like to start again?

After a longer break, you would like a structured start. Instead of simply picking up where you left off, you want to take your current starting point into account.

Do you train regularly, but without clear progress?

You are active, but have the feeling that progress is not coming, that exertion is processed less well, or that similar complaints keep recurring.

Are you pursuing a specific goal?

You would like to improve your endurance, build strength, prepare for a sporting challenge or maintain your long-term performance capacity.

Services at a glance

Spiroergometry

During a stepwise increasing exertion, respiration, oxygen uptake and cardiovascular response, among other things, are recorded. The results form a basis for assessing endurance capacity and for personal training management.

Gang- und Bewegungsanalyse im Buff Medical Resort

Gait and movement analysis

The analysis documents how you move and how different areas of the body work together as you do. Unusual loading or compensation patterns can then be examined specifically.

D-Wall-Bewegungsdiagnostik

D-Wall movement diagnostics

The digital system records range of movement, movement speed, balance and stability. Direct visual feedback makes movements comprehensible and supports the targeted selection of exercises.

3D Body Scan

The 3D Body Scan documents your physical starting situation and enables a clear comparison over time. The results are interpreted together with the other performance data.

Faszientherapie im Buff Medical Resort

Fascia therapy

The fascial system is often an important factor, particularly where movement is restricted or muscles are tense, and it is therefore routinely part of the holistic assessment.

Manuelle Therapie und Physiotherapie

Manual therapy and physiotherapy

Where restricted movement or muscular complaints are present, manual and physiotherapeutic treatments can be integrated into your stay as a complement.

Health does not need a gym every day.

A systematic review evaluated 16 long-term cohort studies on muscle-strengthening activities. The results show: regular strength training was associated with more favourable long-term health courses – independently of aerobic activity.

Particularly interesting for a demanding everyday life: in several analyses, the most favourable associations were already seen at around 30 to 60 minutes of muscle-strengthening activity per week. The combination of strength and endurance activities was associated with additional benefits.

“The belief that you have to do sport three to four times a week in order to achieve relevant effects is rather outdated. In my experience, it is important to set up an individually tailored and efficient strategy that the guest can also sustain over the long term.”

Do not start with more training. Start with more clarity.

Would you like to record your performance capacity precisely, return to training after a break or shape your existing training more purposefully?
