Colon Hydrotherapy
A supervised colon irrigation as part of a holistic gut and nutrition concept
At a glance
Relieving the gut specifically
Our digestion responds sensitively to nutrition, stress, physical activity and numerous further influencing factors. Particularly where digestive complaints are present, or within a structured gut programme, it may be useful to combine individual measures specifically with one another.
Colon hydrotherapy is a controlled irrigation of the large intestine with warm, filtered water. At Buff Medical Resort it is not used in isolation, but embedded in a more comprehensive concept of medical care, nutrition and gut health.
A controlled irrigation of the large intestine
In colon hydrotherapy, filtered water at body temperature is introduced carefully into the large intestine through a closed system and then drained again.
The aim of the treatment is the mechanical emptying of the bowel and the support of natural bowel movement.
The treatment is carried out under professional supervision and only if there are no contraindications from a medical point of view.
What is the aim of the treatment?
Mechanical emptying of the bowel
The controlled supply of water supports the emptying of the large intestine.
Supporting bowel movement
The treatment can stimulate natural bowel activity mechanically.
Accompanying a gut programme
Colon hydrotherapy can be used as a complementary measure within a medically supervised gut or F.X. Mayr concept.
Individual assessment
Whether the treatment is useful always depends on your health situation and the complaints that are present.
Controlled and professionally supervised
Medical assessment
Before the treatment, it is reviewed whether colon hydrotherapy is suitable for you and whether possible contraindications are present.
Controlled colon irrigation

Supervision and follow-up discussion
The treatment is supervised by trained specialist staff and embedded in your further gut and nutrition concept.
As a complementary measure within a gut concept
Colon hydrotherapy may be considered, for example:
- within a medically supervised F.X. Mayr programme
- as a complementary measure within a gut health concept
- where controlled emptying of the bowel is medically intended
- for selected digestive complaints, following a prior medical assessment
- as part of an individually tailored stay focusing on the gut and nutrition
Whether the treatment is useful in an individual case should always be assessed medically.

Considering gut health holistically
Digestion, gut function, nutrition and the microbiome influence one another. That is why we do not consider digestive complaints in isolation, but in the context of further health factors.

Reducing burdens specifically
The focus is not on a blanket ‘detox’, but on the question of which burdens are actually present and which medically sensible measures suit your individual situation.
